Managing Editor
- William (Memo) Stephens
After completing a career that included leadership roles in several Fortune 500 companies,
Memo Stephens retired to pursue his real passion in life, adventure. He resides most of the year in Western
Argentina with his wife Cinzia, spending summers exploring the rivers and lakes of Patagonian Argentina and
Chile, and the winters in the wine region of Mendoza Province. He is the founder and President of Sterling
Adventure Group, LLC; and serves as Managing Editor of The Patagonia Journal.
Contributing
Author - John G. Joy
John Joy has seen tens of thousands of casts from the pilot seat of
catarafts in Patagonia. His secret to having not been pricked by a fly yet is that he can perceive a bad cast
in the making and be prepared to take cover. His greatest joy is helping anglers read water, cast
effectively, and reap the rewards of husky browns.
Leaving his native Indiana for Brazil in 1975, John has spent most of
his adult life overseas on various agricultural projects. His claim to fame is having to wear a suit only
three times; to defend his thesis, to make a pitch to PepsiCo to buy into cranberries in Chile, and
to get married. He lives with his wife Teresa and their three children
Michelle, 12, John Lucas, 10, and Jeremy, 8, in Puerto Varas, Chile.

experiences. He lives in
Manchester, Vermont with his wife, son and bernese mountain dog,
Mattie.
