Estancia Arroyo Verde, is a family owned and managed fly fishing lodge on the world renowned
Traful river, within the Nahuel Huapi National Park in northern Patagonian Argentina and just an hour and a
half from the local airport, San Carlos de Bariloche. It was one of the first private
estancias (ranch) to open its doors to anglers from across the globe.

Nestling in the Traful valley, Estancia Arroyo Verde, for more than 20 years has played host
to discerning anglers of all ages and abilities and to those seeking adventure in comfort. Overlooking the valley the traditional wood and stone built houses are set in
beautifully landscaped gardens with mature trees, shrubs and colourful borders. There are several outside seating areas to enjoy a drink before lunch, or watch the
sunset in the main house, the sun-lounge, bar, living-room and dining-room were designed to create a cosy and
relaxed atmosphere for guests. Each of the 5 individually decorated twin/double bedrooms has en-suite
facilities and heating.

About a mile and a half from the main house a comfortable cabin perches on a rocky outcrop
overlooking the lake commanding a magnificent view. This self contained unit sleeps two.
The amazing river Traful, which runs for ten miles through the unspoiled beauty of Arroyo
Verde, is home to land-locked salmon, brown and rainbow trout. The Traful is an exclusively catch and release fly-fishing river. At the beginning of the
season the river runs high and fast with the level dropping in December but usually with fast water until the
beginning or middle of January (depending on weather conditions, especially the winter snows), it then runs
slow until the first Autumn rains.

A typical mountain river of crystal clear water varying in width from
60 to 90 feet (20 to 30 meters) with rapids and pools throughout its 10 miles course is home to rainbow and
brown trout and land-locked salmon. Although the average size of the fish is around 20 to 23 ins. for trout
and 22 to 24 ins. for salmon it is not uncommon to catch 28 ins. salmon, 30 ins. rainbows and a 29 ins.
browns (dimensions that have all been recently caught), something to think about when you choose the tippet
for your leader. Also take into account that sections of the riverbank are lined with trees and shrubs making
casting more exciting and rather challenging!
All guests may take part of outdoor activities besides fly fishing such as half day or full
day horse riding excursions, hiking of different difficulties, swimming in the lake or river, bird watching
and picnics in breathtaking scenery.
