San huberto Lodge in Patagonia

San Huberto, the classic guesthouse located north of Junín and San Martín de los Andes towns, belongs to an old cattle-farming ranch that was created in 1890, eight years before the foundation of San Martín de los Andes. The present-day descendants of the pioneer family that founded the ranch have kept up the old farming tradition, and added other typically Patagonian activities such as sport fishing, bird and wildlife watching and horseback riding.

The main living area at San Huberto LodgeThe lodge has both single and double rooms (some of them appropriate for disabled guests) and can host up to 16 people. We try to limit the number of anglers staying at the same time to a maximum of 12, to ensure the conservation of the natural resource.

All meals are prepared with fresh or organically grown ingredients, most of them produced either on the farm itself or nearby. Don’t miss their fried meat “empanadas”, “asado” and green salads freshly picked from the family vegetable garden.

Fly fishing at San Huberto Lodge

In addition to unforgettable fishing in the Malleo’s crystal-clear water at the foot of the Lanín Volcano, the region offers ideal sites for fishing from boats, whether motorboats on nearby Lake Tromen, or floating down neighboring rivers.

Every good hunter will feel curious about the name “San Huberto” ( Saint Hubert)... and with good reason. The main purpose of our lodge, whose history goes back several decades, was originally to provide lodging for the hunters who used to roam the area. In those days they were real adventurers, and would stay at the lodge because it was a safe, comfortable place to rest after having spent hours out in the cold mountains.

Over the years, our area has become renowned for spectacular big-game hunting trophies, because we are particularly careful not to overuse the resource at the expense of reducing the quality of the animals. For over fifteen years, we have been managing the resource, conducting selective culling, and allowing only 6 trophies to be taken a year. Neighboring Estancia Loncoluán offers some 22000 acres harboring valuable specimens and yielding trophies scoring up to 224 points according to the SCI (Safari Club International) system.
